Another quiet morning, sunshine filtering through the living room blinds. I'm sure Mom's still freaked out that we haven't put curtains up, but for some reason I like it that way. I might also like it with curtains, but shopping for them is more effort than I feel like mustering, for some reason.
Was forcefully awakened by my favorite feline, who felt the need to communicate her desire for fresh crunchy food at about 7:45. She woke me up out of a dream that I have, of course, since forgotten.
We stayed up pretty late (for us) last night, having a friend over in the evening. We watched a couple episodes of Supernatural, which she introduced me to because I got her stuck on Lost. So far I'm really liking it, though the water-spirit death by drowning episode wasn't the best one for someone who at best, mildly dislikes water and at worst is afraid of it to the point of unreason.
It's so foggy outside right now that all I can see is the edge of our car, the silhouette of the tree and bush outside, and a bright yellow glowing mist. Very pretty.
I'm actually still kind of sleepy, but I wanted to do a bit of writing here, and also mention that the RP I got last night made me very happy indeed. Yay.
Back to bed with me, I think.
Last night's dream, or at least, the dream I was having when I woke up, involved visiting the house that my grandparents lived in when I was a little kid, and also the actor Alan Cumming having decided to be a woman instead of a man. I wouldn't be completely surprised if that was the case, but a quick visit to his website shows that it hasn't happened yet, at least.
Night before last I dreamed that my pregnant co-worker is going to have a girl. I told a couple people at work, but not her, as I didn't want to be right and spoil things or be wrong and be disappointing. Plus, even if she does want to find out when she can, that's still a couple months away. Anyway.
Lost premiered last night, and as promised, the first five minutes were especially wtf-worthy. The fact that two different Stephen King books popped up is still tugging at my mind, but given that they were the old covers, I can't tell what books they were. A lot of folks have been suggesting that they're part of the Dark Tower series and everyone knows that King is interested in the show because he's written a couple commentaries on it, and allowed them to reference his work. Not to mention the little rumor that's floating around that he was the real author of Bad Twin, the book that the franchise released last summer... It's an interesting thought, at least, though I don't like the implications of a Lost/Dark Tower parallel. (cough)
Oh, and of the three of us, I was the one to guess correctly on the new station's name--"The Hydra." Go me. The whole Juliet/Sarah/Penny thing is irritating because the actresses haven't been around long enough, screen-time wise, for us to differentiate, and they've all become significant in the last two episodes--the last of Season 2 and the first of Season 3. Also, Ben. If that's his real name--given that I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it's another alias. And dude, is Mr. Friendly gay? "You're not my type, Kate." Eheheheh.
I know the six-week miniseries (first section of the season, then they break for a couple months and come back until the real end of the season) is supposed to focus on the Others, but I'm just dying to know what's going to happen with Michael and Walt, and what's going to happen on the other side of the island. Next week's promo looked promising, at least, for a look at them. Here's hoping.
As I carry on into my second week of the schedule of a Completely Normal Person (aka 9-5, Monday-Friday), it becomes apparent that I really don't have too much interesting happen to me during the week. I am, however, getting more accustomed to the 5/2/5/2/etc vibe so that I'm not totally exhausted from working it. I knew I was capable of it because I did it for several months before the wedding. It's especially good to be back to something that approaches regularity in scheduling. The manager who makes the schedule now, D, implied that next week would be more of the same if he could manage it. I'm good with that.
I think I've figured out that 11:30 is just about the perfect time for me to fall asleep. The problem with sleeping a little before or a little after that is that I tend to wake up in REM, which results in a feeling of a crappy night's sleep. So aiming for 11:30 should do it--right after Good Eats, which is as good as anything to fall asleep to, don't you think?
Tonight brings with it the promise of more frustration and yelling and the pulling out of hair as LOST embarks upon Season 3 tonight. Evan and I have (more or less, skipping some episodes in the middle) caught up by watching the second season and bonus discs from the DVD set. We're gluttons for punishment, of course, but it's also a chance to collect my best friend J on the way home from work and drag her over for some amusement, as it was last year that we became accustomed to all sitting down together and watching. I'm sure I'll find a few people to scream, "They're Dharma!" about (as I am wont to do), and then we'll probably watch the Project Runway reunion show. Hee. Like old times~
Had a small bit of happiness yesterday as I was scanning all our audio books to see what was old and needed to be sent back. One of the titles was the compilation of short stories edited by James Patterson that came out recently, called Thriller. I didn't think it would be something I would be particularly interested in when it came out, but to my surprise, one of the authors listed on the cover as a contributor was none other than Katherine Neville, author of my much-beloved The Eight. So I grabbed the actual book on my way to lunch (actually, on my way to covering the lunch of my dallying co-worker, who took at least forty-five minutes if not an hour, instead of thirty) and skimmed. It appears that we shouldn't give up hope of Neville publishing again, since the story she included for the volume, The Tuesday Club, is part of or relevant to the sequel she's planning for everyone's favorite cult classic.
It's good to know that there's something still in the works, though since it's been almost twenty years since the original was published, I'm curious how much her writing has changed, either for the better or for the worse. It's entirely possible that her style is such that it just won't be the same, but for what it's worth, the story was good, if a bit short--she needs a lot of room for setup and delivery, though, and I don't mind that. So I'll have to keep my eyes open, because now she's caught my eye.
That's enough for now, I think, and it's about time I got ready for the halfway day. Until next time~
What TV show(s) will you be watching this season? Why?

Oooh. Well, the obvious repeaters are LOST and Project Runway, though sadly the new season of the latter is almost over. Thankfully Bravo replays it to death so I'm pretty much caught up there. LOST starts up again next week, with a 'recap' episode due this week. We also like Deal or No Deal a lot, but not to the point of watching it religiously or anything, but given that it doesn't have a "plot," that's understandable. Law and Order: SVU is much the same, as we can catch it on repeats as well as when the new ones are on.
Our newest venture is Kidnapped, on NBC, but as we're only one episode in, it's hard to tell where it'll go. So far, it looks at least mildly interesting. NBC is also providing Heroes, and who are we to resist more superhero programming? Worth a shot, at least.
That's about all I can think of at the moment~
